I have always been compelled to make things, things that will last forever and become a treasured part of the owner’s life. For generations my family has been inventive and resourceful. Never throwing things away, always building things from what they had, and treasuring what others have made. These lessons are carried with me everyday and effect how I look at every object and material.
Working in the corporate world I struggled to find a way to touch what I did everyday. Completion meant filing away the customer project records in a cabinet and never seeing or touching the end result of months of work. Although I never stopped making things, the end of my corporate career gave me the opportunity to concentrate on what was important to me and the realization that I needed to move to the next level of creating “things”, to reclaim my creative spirit and use my talents as an artist. To touch my work and see how it touches others.
I am for the most part self taught and have worked in many different mediums in my lifetime, from ceramics to fabric, paint, glass, and discarded junk. With my formal education in architectural design and drafting and being raised in a family tile installation business, mosaics, glass, and reclaimed objects are the perfect medium to combine all my passions.
The best days are the days that we learn something new. I am committed to educating myself and learning from others, to perfect my craft and expand beyond the boundaries of the ordinary. To challenge myself and my customer to turn a vision into a reality
